Evens helps groups record shared costs and see who owes whom. It never moves money. This page says what Evens keeps about you, why, and how to remove it.
What Evens keeps
- Your account. The name you choose and, if you add one, your email address. Signing in with Apple or Google gives Evens an account id from that service and the email it shares. Before you sign in, Evens makes an anonymous account so your groups can sync.
- What you add. Groups, the people in them, expenses, payments, comments, receipt photos you attach and the payment handles you choose to show. Everyone in a group sees that group's records; nobody else does.
- People you add by name. A name you type, or pick from your contacts, is copied into the group. Evens doesn't read or upload the rest of your contacts.
- Your devices. If you allow notifications on iPhone, Evens keeps the device's push token so it can tell you when something changes.
- Subscriptions. Whether you have Pro and until when. Apple (App Store) or Stripe (web) takes the payment; Evens never sees your card.
What stays on your device
- The camera is used only when you scan a receipt.
- Quick add listens only while you dictate. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone when it can; otherwise Apple's speech recognition does it. The audio is never kept.
- Face ID only unlocks the app. Evens never gets your face data.
Reading receipts and Quick add (Pro)
When you scan a receipt or type a sentence into Quick add with Pro, the photo or sentence, with the names in the group and its currency, is sent to OpenAI to read the items and amounts. Evens doesn't keep what it sends, and under OpenAI's API terms it isn't used to train their models.
Who else handles your data
- Supabase stores your account and groups, in the European Union (Ireland).
- Vercel runs this website and the web app.
- OpenAI reads receipts and Quick add sentences for Pro, as above.
- Apple delivers notifications, handles App Store purchases and Sign in with Apple. Google handles Sign in with Google. Stripe handles web payments.
Exchange rates come from the European Central Bank; nothing about you is sent there.
Evens shows no ads, uses no tracking or analytics, and doesn't sell or share your data with anyone else.
Keeping and deleting
Your data is kept while you have an account. You can delete it at any time in the app (Account, Privacy and security, Delete my account). Your login, email and devices are removed straight away. The expenses you shared stay in your groups, under “Former member”, so everyone else's balances stay right.
You can export a group's expenses as a CSV or PDF from the app.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete what Evens holds about you, or object to how it's used, by writing to support@getevens.app. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Evens isn't meant for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date. Big changes are announced in the app.
